AWARD WINNING

Winner of ‘Most Promising Emerging Company’ 2019- Wellington Fringe Festival

Nominated for ‘Most Outstanding Ensemble’ 2019- Wellington Fringe Festival

Missing Lids originated from the findings of a 1960’s Tupperware commercial. The jingle is a colourful arrangement of every instrument under the sun. We explore what it takes to be the ultimate human in this day and age through extremely physical and intricate dance moves.

Choreographed by Holly Newsome in collaboration with the dancers

Performers Bree Timms, Issy Estrella, Jess Newman, Neve Pierce, Olivia Foley, Tiana Lung

Sound Curation by Holly Newsome

Lighting/Technical Design by Elekis Poblete Teirney

Missing Lids was initially facilitated through the Wellesley Studios Summer Residency in 2018. The work was developed over 3 weeks in Auckland and then soon after performed at the Basement Theatre for a successful season. From here, Missing Lids was redeveloped in 2019 for the Wellington Fringe Festival going on to win ‘Most Promising Emerging Company’ and be nominated for ‘Most Outstanding Ensemble’ for the Fringe awards.

Special thanks to Creative NZ, Wellesley Studios and Katrina Todd

“Missing Lids also asks us to contemplate the stupid and strange…

whilst embracing the ridiculousness of our condition. Newsome’s works are increasingly critical and exciting— not to be missed.”

Hamish McIntosh, DANZ
